AXIS Network Board Update 2020 #1

It’s been another busy month for the committee, some highlights that may be of interest…

Mentor programme cohort 4

We are pleased to open applications for the AXIS mentoring programme for 2020! This scheme offers an opportunity to develop strong partnerships across the industry, across disciplines, and across all levels and sectors of the industry, as well as welcoming all genders as mentees and mentors. We receive excellent feedback on the programme and strongly encourage you to get involved! For more information, and details of how to apply, please visit axisnetwork.co.uk/post/axis-network-mentoring-scheme-launch-cohort-4. Applications close on the 23rd of March.

March event – What is Intersectionality? – with Baker Hughes – ANNOUNCEMENT

In light of current concerns surrounding Covid-19, we’ve made the decision to cancel this year’s March event. We understand this may be disappointing news. However, we look forward to working with our sponsors Baker Hughes to bring you an alternative event later this year. In the meantime, we will explore delivering the event in a virtual format – watch this space for further details.

Inclusive Offshore Working

Based on lots of your feedback, we’ve begun a project on inclusive offshore working. At present, we’re gathering stories of positive change and improvement to share with others – if you or your organisation has a story or feedback you can share, please drop us a line!

Survey results

Thanks to everyone who took part in our survey. We received some excellent (and constructive!) feedback, which we’re currently analysing and will use to shape and inform our activities this year. Congratulations to AXIS member Joanne McCloskey who takes home the John Lewis voucher, provided by our sponsors CNR International.

2020 initiative – diverse panels

In our chair update in January, we committed to supporting diverse representation at industry events, and last month saw us work with a few event organisers to drive this forward. If you are involved in organising events and would like support with this, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Equate Scotland have started a fantastic initiative to build a database of STEM-focussed women speakers, and we encourage you to make use of this too. Don’t forget that AFBE-Scotland are there to support you on this too!

Don’t forget, if there’s anything you would like to share with us, please get in touch with us.
