Aberdeen Networks come together for AXIS Network event
"The importance of networking and industry collaboration is the theme of an upcoming AXIS Network event this Thursday. Entitled, "Bring a Network to a Network", six key networks representing professionals from Aberdeen's oil & gas industry will meet at Engie House, Aberdeen on Thursday November 24 2016 in support of AXIS and its mission to connect, counsel and support women in the Energy Industry in Aberdeen area, as well as increase female retention and raise awareness of gender diversity in the industry. The Aberdeen X-Industry Support Network (AXIS) will be joined for the evening by the Aberdeen branches of: the Society of Petroleum Engineers; Women in Science and Engineering; the CIPD; the Energy Institute; and the Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain. The event's keynote speaker is Gavin Brown from Speak with Impact, a company which helps provide professional people with the skills to prepare and deliver high impact presentations. Gavin's own presentation, 'How to Network Effectively', addresses the importance of making connections and building enduring, mutually beneficial relationships. A former lawyer, MSP and winner of the World Debating Competition, Gavin delivers high quality and award winning training internationally with particular focus on public speaking. This will be the eighth event run by the AXIS Network which launched in September 2014. The network's recent events include a 'Retain Yourself' event run in conjunction with Centrica in September 2016 and a "Speed Networking with a Difference" event in June 2016 which was sponsored by Shell. The AXIS network are also delighted to announce that Deirdre Michie, Chief Executive of Oil & Gas UK has agreed to join the AXIS Network as our sponsor from November 2016 to assist AXIS in developing its strategic direction going forward. Jenny Junnier, Chair of the AXIS Network, said: “We are delighted that someone of Deirdre’s standing will be lending her experience and wisdom to our network and look forward to working with her to bring our aims closer to fulfilment."
